About Me

We live on the border of Nottingham/Derby and our family consists of myself, my husband, two primary school age boys, 'Jabba' (cat), Cody (pony) and now 'Oscar' (gorgeous black lab).  This is our first dog as a family (my hubby was brought up with Collies).  I am the only female in the family!!

oscar has now been part of our family for 2 weeks and has settled in so well. We've bought the 'sounds of life' CD that he was played when he was with the litter, so he continues to be totally chilled out with these sounds; though I can't imagine anything phasing him, as he takes every new thing so well! We've been taking him to the stables where he has met a range of ponies, horses and dogs and he is great with them all. He still can't understand why our cat, Jabba, doesn't want to bundle with him, but I guess a few swipes from Jabba will convince him. From the first day they were both happy to fall asleep near to each other so things are looking ok for the two of them sharing a home. Starting puppy school tonight, so looking forward to showing off how handsome our little fellow is to everyone and how well he Is already doing with sit, come, leave and heal! Just moved into his new crate, so he loves sneaking the odd sock into there for a nibble!

Posting this 30 hours after Oscar (13 week old black lab) joined our family. It's been amazing! He is adorable (as you would expect of any cute puppy I suppose) but what makes him so special is that nothing phases him! He's coped with our cat fantastically, plus all the sounds/sights of our home (washer, dryer, toddler neighbour, tractor is next field etc etc..). His 'sit' and 'leave' commands are great (goodness, I didn't realise how much stuff we leave lying on the floor!) and we are still working on the 'wee wee' command! He settled really well into his crate for the night and waited for his 'wee wee' till 5 the next morning when hubby dutifully dragged himself out of bed to let him out into the garden. All of his wonderful nature has to be down to the fantastic temperament of his parents, but mostly from his upbringing to the point he joined our family. Many Many thanks to Allison and the rest of the Rolyat family for giving him such a great start in life and for allowing one of your little treasures join our family. We will continue to love this little one (just as much as you have) for the rest of his life!!
